HW 24 Short Story

Smoke fills the room, as the TV shines brightly everyone stares consumed in the hilarity of Family Guy. "Yo this shit is hilarious" says George in a low stoned voice, as the room fills with laughter one boy, Timmy, finds himself looking all over the place feeling paranoid and uncomftorable with the situation he is in. Nothing seems to be going right, he is trying to comprehend why the other kids, or his so called friends whom he admires so much can stay so relaxed. "I feel sick guys" he states pathetically, everyone laughs and jokes that he's "buggin out". Feeling embarassed, he tries his best to reassure everyone that he's having a good time. "No, I'm just kidding you..." Its hard to talk, staying alert makes him naucious, he wants it to end.
He wakes up moments later. Everyone has abandoned him. "what time is it? where did everyone go?". He sits there knowing that he failed to impress the "cool" kids.

  1. Hi Amon,
I found your story very interesting. I think it deals with the idea of trying so hard to fit in with a certain group. In your story it shows signs of drug users. The character in your story thinks they are cool and tries hard to fit in. When he tells them he doesn't feel well they don't care or listen. Is this what you think cool is or a usual situation?

  2. Hey Amon,
Your story doesn’t relate to the school at all and I think it should be but I’m not sure ask and see, but I liked the story you have and I think the character shouldn’t care about the other people and what they think and be his self and that would be cool.

  3. Amon, I liked your story because you covered an aspect of cool that most people didn't cover; the affect of recreational drug use on popularity/cool. I think that in many high school drinking and useing drugs (especially marijuana) is a right of passage and can dramatically affect someones popularity in school. Even if someone is not especially well dressed or talks the talk sometimes there party savy can make them cool anyway. Furthermore I think you also covered the unfortunate side of such drug use which gave your story a accurate perspective.
Everyone has heard a story about someone getting "too fucked up". Great work.
